Sat 19 & Sun 20 June 11-6pm

This year we are celebrating our 10th birthday!

To mark this achievement we decided to include some special events and invite more guest artists to join us on our anniversary weekend. A larger brochure meant the next step was to seek extra funding and we are very fortunate in being awarded the Co–operative Membership Community Fund, help from the Earley Charity and RBC Community Grant, as well as funding from the University of Reading and we thank them all for their generosity.

Little did we know in 2000 when the idea for the trail was first conceived (by Susanna Beer, Pip Hall and Jenny Halstead), how successful it would become, or that it would inspire a continual steam of new artists and craftspeople. In 2010 we welcome 9 new and 8 returning guests, along with 5 new members joining our 33 regular members who all live or work within the trail area, totalling 55 artists in 27 venues.

This years special events include:

  • The Ridgeline Trust who will be opening their Therapeutic Wildlife Garden to show work from Redlands and Alfred Sutton Primary Schools.
  • The Fine Art Department of the University of Reading are staying open for our weekend so you can view their Final Year Degree Show.
  • Nightwatching, the new Peter Greenaway film about the life of Rembrandt will be screened by Reading Film Theatre on Thursday evening 17 June in The Palmer Building, Whiteknights Campus.
  • Music@Reading will perform their Summer Concert in the Great Hall, University of Reading on Saturday 19 June.

brochure downloadThe new design of our website allows for searching by artist's name or media. By viewing the trail map at Home, you can see who is exhibiting where. Click on the pop up box to go directly to that artist's page. By clicking on the Brochure PDF icon you can download a version of our leaflet. An email logo on the right navigation box allows for direct communication with that artist and you can follow us on Facebook via the link on the right.

It's going to be a full and exciting weekend, mark it in your diary and come along to help us celebrate and enjoy our special area of Reading on the Whiteknights Studio Trail.
