Anna Mitchell works in photography and drawing; investigating aspects of her cultural education as revealed in memory, photographs from personal family archive and experiences in other cultures.
Anna graduated with an MA in Photography from the Royal College of Art and a BA in Fine Art from Reading University and continues to exhibit both in the UK and abroad.
Anna explores pencil's potential for sensitive and detailed mark making as a means to meditate on the subject and give significance to every part of the image. Her latest works after a visit to Kathmandu are large drawings of banal installations on the townscape such as functional signage or tangles of wire. Whilst decorative they also reflect aspects of the everyday experience of the people below them.
